BROADCASTER ABBOT RETURNS TO HILO ROOTS

Pacific Radio Group, Inc. announces the addition of longtime radio personality, Phil Abbot, to their Big Island programming team. Thirty-one years after leaving Hilo, Abbot returns home to fill dual roles as morning show co-host and program director for the company’s hugely successful KAPA FM radio station, heard on 100.3 in Hilo and Kau and 99.1 in Kona.

After leaving Hilo, Abbot held on-air positions at KPOI and KSSK in Honolulu before moving to Arizona in 1993 to pursue other opportunities. Most recently, Abbot has been recording radio shows in California that he exports to Japan.

“It’s great to come home to Hilo,” Abbot said. “My morning show co-host, Jaz Yglesias, amazes me with his talents, as do the other jocks on board at Pacific Radio Group.”

“We’re very happy that Phil has joined us,” adds general manager, Jeanine Atebara. “His experience, knowledge and ties to the Big Island make him a valuable asset to our team.”
